Recently, an outdoor nursing room in front of JR Oita Station in Japan was reported to have a hole in the wall and the floor covered in garbage. After checking the surveillance footage of the nursing room, the city of Oita was surprised to find that 70% of the users were male, who primarily entered to smoke, drink, or eat. Based on this situation, the city of Oita has decided to close this nursing room.
According to reports, on September 24, Oita Prefecture received a notification about a large hole with a diameter of about 50 centimeters appearing on the wall of the nursing room located in front of the north exit of the JR Oita Station. After investigating the surveillance footage, it was found that within about nine days from September to October, a total of 74 people used the nursing room, including 52 men and only 22 women. Among these 74 users, only one person entered with an infant, while the rest were eating instant noodles, smoking, or drinking inside.
The relevant personnel in Oita City expressed regret over this situation. The nursing room was originally set up to provide convenience for mothers, but it is mostly used for other purposes, resulting in the room often being filled with cigarette butts and garbage. The Oita police stated that the hole in the nursing room appeared between 3 PM and 10 PM on September 20, and they are currently investigating the cause of the damage.
