When it comes to works about reincarnation in another world, I believe everyone is already quite familiar with them. The protagonists in these works are often the “overpowered” type of character, or a handsome young man wielding powerful skills, effortlessly conquering the three realms, surrounded by a harem that makes others envious. The answer is yes. Hiromatsu Ryo’s novel “Busa Men Gachi Fighter” (丑男真戦士) is indeed a unique example.
Aside from the lack of a handsome character (which is filled by other characters), this protagonist nearly matches all the typical settings of otherworldly reincarnation stories. However, what sets him apart is that he is a greasy, overweight hero with facial moles, completely subverting our impression of protagonists in otherworldly reincarnation tales. Excitingly, it has been officially announced that this work will be adapted into an anime this month, produced by “WHITE FOX.” The voice actor for the male lead, Yoshioka Shigeru, has been confirmed as Junichi Suwabe, although the release date for the anime has not yet been determined, there is reason to believe it may not be too long.
