According to the latest research by Forbes Advisor, Singapore has been ranked as the world’s safest travel destination.
The study analyzed factors such as crime rates, healthcare quality, and natural disaster risks, providing a safety score ranging from 0 to 100, with the lowest scores indicating the safest cities. Singapore excelled in these areas, boasting the lowest natural disaster risk and ranking second in health and infrastructure risks, earning it the top spot as the safest travel destination.
The study also assessed digital security risks, defined as the ability to use the internet freely without worrying about online attacks or privacy breaches. In this category, Singapore was recognized as having the second-lowest digital security risk among the countries analyzed.
Japan ranked second overall, with Tokyo highlighted as one of the cities with the lowest health safety risks, reflecting its high-quality healthcare services and robust infrastructure. In addition to Tokyo, Osaka also made it into the global top ten, making Japan one of the few countries with two cities on the safety list.
The top ten safest cities globally, according to the study, are as follows: Singapore, Tokyo (Japan), Toronto (Canada), Sydney (Australia), Zurich (Switzerland), Copenhagen (Denmark), Seoul (South Korea), Osaka (Japan), Melbourne (Australia), and Amsterdam (Netherlands). These cities performed exceptionally well in their respective safety assessments, attracting travelers from around the world.
Conversely, Caracas in Venezuela was rated as one of the world’s most dangerous cities, receiving the highest score due to its high crime rates, poor quality of healthcare services, and inadequate infrastructure. This has led the U.S. Department of State to categorize Caracas as a “Level 4: Do Not Travel” advisory city, recommending against travel to the area.
