Osaka’s New Shopping Mall 2024 | 1. Umeda KITTE Osaka opens on July 31—A great place for shoppers
Umeda in Osaka is lined with shopping malls, making it a great place for shopping sprees. On July 31 this year, there will be a new shopping mall opening in Umeda, namely KITTE Osaka, located within JP TOWER. JP TOWER was completed in March this year and houses a theater, offices, hotels, and a shopping mall. The most notable part, of course, is the shopping mall KITTE Osaka!
KITTE Osaka is located in the basement levels 1 to 6 of JP TOWER, with a total of 144 shops. The first basement level is connected to the west exit of JR Osaka Station, making it very convenient. KITTE Osaka not only offers various famous Osaka delicacies, such as the long-standing takoyaki shop Tako no Tetsu located on the 4th floor; it also features local specialties from different regions of Japan. On the 2nd floor, there is a shop dedicated to products from Hyogo Prefecture called Hyogo Prefecture Discovery House, and also one selling products from Nagano and Gunma Prefectures called Oginoya. Everyone can explore a variety of local snacks from different areas of Japan on this floor, making it a great place to buy souvenirs. Besides the specialty floor, the mall also has a section for Japanese-made products, specifically selling items such as fabrics and health and beauty products.

Osaka New Shopping Mall 2024 | 2. Mitsui Outlet Park Osaka Kadoma
Mitsui Outlet Park Osaka Kadoma officially opened on April 17, 2023, formed by the merger of LaLaport shopping center and Mitsui Outlet Park Osaka Kadoma, with approximately 250 stores in operation!
The new outlet covers over 700,000 square feet, has 4 floors, and features 250 shops, including the American fashion brand FOREVER 21, and 64 brands will relocate to Osaka Kadoma to continue operations after the closure of Mitsui Outlet Park Osaka Tsurumi in March, including Puma, Coach, BEAMS, adidas, MICHAEL KORS, TOMMY HILFIGER, and more.
The shopping mall has a complete range of brands, whether it’s high-end, drugstore, or sports brands, everything is available. At the same time, the new mall also features many gourmet restaurants, a high-end cinema, and an indoor sports area, and there is also a “Kuromon Market” gourmet area!

Osaka New Shopping Mall 2024 | 3. Sakai LaLaport Shopping Center (Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Sakai)
The “Sakai LaLaport Shopping Center” opened in November 2022 in Sakai City, Osaka, featuring 212 major brands. It has three floors and brings together 212 brands, including the literary bookstore TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE, Japanese home decor store Francfranc, Japanese eyewear brand JINS, and clothing brands UNIQLO, COACH, and ABC MART!
In addition to shopping, “Sakai LaLaport” also features an indoor activity plaza called “Fansta X Stadium,” where various sports events or live performances are held periodically. There is also the free outdoor “MIHARA” park, which includes various playground facilities, perfect for kids to expend their energy!
The 3rd floor features a food court “Sakai Food Kitchen,” divided into three main areas: “World Gourmet Kitchen,” “Miyahara Life,” and “Interactive Terrace.” Among them, the most popular is undoubtedly “Bai An Zhan Qi Udon,” which has been awarded the Michelin star for five consecutive years, along with the endlessly crowded “Noodle House HUKUHARA,” offering a multitude of choices after shopping!
The editor recommends “Moff animal cafeららぽーと堺店,” located on the 3rd floor of the mall. It is a cafe with about 40 types of animals, including guinea pigs, sloths, and parrots. Here, you can enjoy the feeling of being surrounded by animals, and also interact with your favorite animals, truly healing!

Transportation: 1. From “Kawachi Matsubara Station” take bus numbers “12, 13, 14” for an 18-minute ride to the east entrance of Mihara Ward Office, then a 5-minute walk.
Alternatively, take bus number 46 for a 13-minute ride and get off at the station in front of the Meiyuan District Office, then walk for 3 minutes.

SEVEN PARK AMAMI” was launched in November 2021, and it is Japan’s first marketplace planned and operated by 7-ELEVEN. It is also the largest commercial facility in the southern Osaka region, featuring over 200 stores, including the Japanese general goods store “LOFT.
In addition to shopping and dining, the mall also has a game facility called “VS PARK,” where visitors can experience around 30 types of sports games. This includes “YOKEKIRU,” where players need to dodge fast-approaching beasts, and the shooting skill test game “Atetare Soccer.” If you love interactive games, you definitely can’t miss it!

Osaka New Shopping Mall 2024 | 5. Shinsaibashi PARCO Mall (心斎橋パルコ)
Shinsaibashi is a must-visit hotspot for Hong Kong visitors to Japan, and in November 2020, a brand-new chain department store, “PARCO Mall,” opened! The new mall brings together several well-known brands in fashion, food, and sports, and even includes specialty stores for anime merchandise that anime fans definitely shouldn’t miss. There’s even the trendy Chiikawa specialty store! Additionally, the new mall is connected to Daimaru Department Store, making it easy for everyone to visit both.
As for dining, I recommend the famous Osaka dish, Okonomiyaki, located on the 13th floor at Tsuruhashi Fugetsu Modern Shinsaibashi Parco Store. How can you visit Osaka without trying Okonomiyaki? This small shop offers affordable prices and generous portions. Besides Okonomiyaki, you can also order Ikayaki, with options for vegetables, seafood, and meat, which is truly satisfying.
The popular cake shop Harbs is located on the third floor of the mall, and the fruit mille-feuille is an absolute must-try! Each piece of fruit is plump and juicy, the layers are rich and fragrant, and the cream has a smooth and silky texture. You can also buy cookies in the store as gifts! It’s worth noting that although the store stays open until 8 PM, the cakes might sell out by around 3 PM.
Shinsaibashi PARCO Shopping Mall (心斎橋パルコ)

Osaka new shopping mall 2024 | 6. Yodobashi Umeda Tower
Located in the shopping hotspot of Umeda, the “Yodobashi Umeda Tower” was expanded by “Yodobashi” in 2019. The newly expanded shopping mall has a total area of over one million square feet, housing nearly 200 stores, mainly focusing on Yodobashi cameras and electronics. Additionally, there are grocery stores, fashion boutiques, supermarkets, and restaurants!
The 5th floor has over 1,000 capsule toy machines, which can leave your hands sore from twisting! The 6th floor features a super large Nintendo Switch area, where you can buy game cards, Mario, Animal Crossing, Kirby merchandise, and more! There is also a Lego, PS5 section, and a variety of anime merchandise. The UNIQLO on the 7th floor even offers customization services, allowing you to DIY your own designs; it’s perfect for purchasing souvenirs here!
