On September 18, 2024, as the Japanese drama The Beginning of the Sea nears its final episode, lead actor Meguro Ren, who had temporarily taken a break due to health reasons, has now recovered and returned to the set. In his first-ever role as a father, he opened up on a program about his thoughts on the “ideal father and family image,” saying, “Before discussing the ideal family, one must first consider marriage, which is a very complex topic. I do want to get married.”

Meguro Ren spoke candidly about his views on marriage, acknowledging the feelings of his fans. He mentioned that many of his supporters might hope he never marries or dates, but emphasized that as an ordinary person, he too longs for marriage and to build a family. He expressed a wish that his fans would also find happiness in their own lives, while clearly stating, “Marriage is a lifelong commitment for me, and of course, it won’t happen in the next six months or a year.”

When reflecting on his life, Meguro Ren shared that he can’t be there for everyone all the time, but his hope is for everyone to live happily. He stated, “Like everyone, I only have one life, and I don’t want to casually say ‘I have no intention of marrying.’ If I do get married in the future, then my past words would become lies, and that’s something I dislike the most.”
