According to the manufacturer, Isayama Shouji, the “18+ Curry Chips” contain Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Pepper) powder, and the packaging clearly warns against consumption by individuals under 18, or those with high blood pressure or gastrointestinal issues. Since its release in 2013, there have been no prior reports of adverse reactions from consumers. However, this incident has garnered widespread attention. Isayama Shouji responded by acknowledging the emergency hospitalization of high school students after consuming the chips and expressed deep apologies for the inconvenience caused to customers and related parties. Although the detailed circumstances of the incident remain unclear, the company hopes that those who felt unwell will recover soon.
